![]() ![]() I don't see any reason to install the Subaru factory part, either myself or professionally, when pretty much any U-Haul outlet in America can do it faster, cheaper, and just as well. Draw-Tite's unit runs around $160 from various outlets, while the factory part is something like $550 if memory serves - plus installation. I don't plan to do it myself, as that's not my idea of fun, but it wouldn't be an overwhelming weekend project for a fit and reasonably skilled shade tree mechanic. The hitch bolts up to the undercarriage and requires drilling also temporarily dropping the muffler. I'm not aware of this requiring the bumper to be cut. Obviously the car won't haul that much safely and I'll mark the receiver for 2,700 lbs., but what it gets me is a frame-mounted hitch with a 2-inch receiver that will accept the same multi-ball slide-in that we use on the truck - plus any two-inch accessories, such as our hitch-mounted bike rack. rating for under 400 bucks, installed, wired, and out the door. Mann's quoted me a Draw-Tite hitch w/a 3,500-lb. In fact, they do so many, so well, and so affordably that our dealer (Carter Subaru) advised us to go there as opposed to having them install the factory hitch and roll it into our financed deal (~$800 installed). They install hitches on Outbacks by the pallet load. tongue weight, for the naturally aspirated 2.5L. tongue weight, for the 2.4L Turbo XT and Wilderness models, and 2,700 lbs. Heavy-duty 2-inch receiver is rated at 3,500 lbs. I'm a new guy here, so I don't know much, but we're also planning to "get hitched" with our 2015 Outback. Subaru hitches are engineered to the same rigorous standards as the rest of the Outback. ![]()
